If you drive commercial vehicles for a living, and your driving can affect your own safety and that of the public, the Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates a physical examination to adjudge your fitness to work safely.
Steven L. Keogh DC can perform a DOT physical exam that outlines a range of ability tests to prove your capacity as a commercial driver. Call us to schedule an appointment for your DOT or athletic physical exam today!
What the DOT Physical Entails
Vision test: We'll test to see if you have a minimum of 20/40 acuity in each eye without aid. Also, you're required to have 70" peripheral vision in the horizontal plane in each eye
Hearing test: You must be able to hear a forced whisper from a maximum distance of 5 feet, regardless of whether you use a hearing aid or not. A minimum hearing loss of less than 40 dB is the standard for commercial drivers
Blood pressure / pulse rate test: This is a test meant to ascertain if the driver has erratic heartbeats or high blood pressure
Urinalysis: A urinalysis helps determine medical conditions such as diabetes
Dr. Keogh assures you that your physical exam will be timely, thorough, and effective. We will also notify you in the future reminding you of medical certificate expiration date. Rest easy knowing that you won't face any trouble in acquiring a commercial driver's license.
